The Client
A small lawn furniture company with a single location on the Indiana,
Michigan border noticed that their customers were repeatedly
asking
for custom cushions sized to fit their specific furniture.
Customers began noticing the message on the web site that told
how they can order custom cushions. The idea for a web site that
allowed people to customize their own cushions online, choose fabrics
and dimensions, and submit the order was born.
Our Solution
The cushion market is crowded and giving people a way to order cushions
with the click of a mouse, without difficulty, was our goal. The
web site needed to be completely unique and give people a sense
that CushionCraft.com was the leader in this market.
To save development time and to keep costs down, we were able
to put together an e-commerce shopping cart package
as the
base for the Cushion Craft web store. It provides functionality
that enables CushionCraft.com to create products that can be customizable
by
shoppers. Shoppers
can choose from hundreds of fabrics, select cushion thickness,
and enter dimensions all from a user friendly interface.
The client wanted to create a unique look and feel for the site
that evoked quality and at the same time had its own personality,
which would help CushionCraft.com gain recognition. To achieve
this,
the new site says “we’re different” by
using a playful design combined with unique shapes, colors, and
content.
On the homepage, we integrated a unique “starting point”
that visitors can use to select a task. It gives task orientated
users an immediate starting place that doesn’t force them
to think.
Results
Since the site launch, orders have increased every month and in
just a few months, revenue from the site paid for its complete
development.
A large number of orders come through search engines and the
sites ease of use, unique look and feel, and great product have
contributed to excellent word of mouth marketing result.
