Arizona Highways Magazine

The Challenge
For over 75
years Arizona Highways Magazine has
been the publication telling the world about the beautiful
places to see, mountains to hike, and canyons to explore in Arizona. It has helped to shape views of the American southwest.
Arizona Highways has a circulation of more than 350,000 copies
monthly (with 75% outside of Arizona) and an estimated readership
of near 1 million every month. The magazine features
scenic photography and travel stories from some of the best writers
and photographers in Arizona.
Despite the beauty of the print edition, Arizona Highway’s
website was a substandard, outdated hodgepodge of different technologies
and styles. So it's no surprise that when the opportunity arose
to completely redesign the web site for this nationally known brand,
we said yes!
Our Solution
In conjunction with two other local firms, we worked to develop
an attractive, usable web site.
The site complements the magazine content by providing:
• A design that evokes the message and feel of the print publication
• Similar colors, typography, and photography
• Searchable archives of popular features such as “The
Hike of the Month,” “Weekend Getaway,” and content
localized by region so users can plan excursions in different parts
of the state
• Plenty of photography and online galleries showing Arizona’s
best side
Results
Arizona Highways Magazine is thrilled with the web site. Now more
than ever, people use the site for shopping, planning travel
in Arizona,
and much more.
